Dr. Herriges grew up in The Dalles, Oregon and received a Presidential Scholarship from Portland State
University. After earning his DMD degree in 1998, and his Certificate in Periodontology in 2001 from
Oregon Health Sciences University, he proudly served in the U.S. Navy as a Lieutenant at Naval Dental
Center Mid-Atlantic in Norfolk, Virginia. He joined Dr. John Chirgwin’s periodontal practice in 2004, and
they worked together until Dr. Chirgwin’s retirement. In January 2024, Dr. Herriges merged his practice
with a local group practice to form PerioPDX.
Dr. Herriges has extensive experience in regenerative and cosmetic periodontal surgery, as well as
dental implant surgery. He is a Board Certified periodontist, having achieved Diplomate status from the
American Board of Periodontology. He is a member of the American Dental Association, American
Academy of Periodontology, Oregon Dental Association and Multnomah Dental Society. He has served
as President of the Oregon Society of Periodontists, as well as serving a term on the Board of Directors
of the Western Society of Periodontology.
Outside the office, Dr. Herriges enjoys skiing, paddleboarding, spending weekends at the Oregon Coast,
and is an avid Portland Trailblazers fan.
